A Fresh Approach...

Sunset at Low Tide, The Camel Estuary
Studio

My unique approach to producing artwork has been developed over many years of artistic study, followed by seven years of post-degree level studio practice.

Throughout this time, I have given serious consideration to the wider cultural importance of art and, equally, to the importance of art in our everyday lives. So, when I make a painting, I do it because, (i) I enjoy the process and, (ii) I believe in keeping the skill of painting alive but, above all, I make it for others - as a focal point for a room, as a talking point, as a treasured possession.

In this way, I believe that the images with which we choose to surround ourselves do make a home, or workspace, truly unique. In addition, I understand that every image chosen by an individual is as valued and important as anything on a gallery wall.

Recognising this, I try to produce work in a way that is flexible; whether in terms of scale, colour scheme, framing or final presentation - yet without sacrificing any of its energy. I specialise in bespoke commissions for both corporate and private buyers and am more than happy to discuss any such project.

I have exhibited work in Liverpool, Preston, St Mawes, Padstow, Bristol and soon London as a solo artist, also gaining commissions for paintings to be hung in both domestic and corporate interiors. The largest project upon which I have worked, to date, was for Moore & Smalley Accountants, Preston, for whom I produced a series of 8 bespoke paintings for display in their refurbished offices and reception. The project was so well received that I was commissioned to produce a further series of works for the same company, when they expanded to new offices in Blackpool in early 2005.

I owe much of my success, especially during my first 3 years of business, to The Prince's Trust - especially the Preston team - who gave me continuous advice and assistance within that crucial period. As I continue to develop my artistic career and try to build upon past successes, I am energised by that support - plus the support of my amazing husband, John, and all of my family, friends and customers who help me to constantly push forwards as an artist. All of my work is original, some pieces have been made to commission, some are to be sold as seen: have a look around the website and enjoy!
